On a recent sewing binge, I was struggling with pins that had little plastic balls on top that kept falling off.
I had some FIMO clay and decided to make some pins of my own. I had some stick pins that I purchased from a thrift shop and sorted through them for the longest ones. I used 1 & 1 1/2 inch pins for each. Then just roll the balls and stick the pins in. You'll have to make sure that the clay is pinched around the pin.
Cut some potatoes in thick slices and stick the pins in. Bake at 265 for 45 min or as the directions state on the package. Cool. Then spray with clear gloss.
These will look great added to my felt pincushions (click on the link in the archive above for instructions) or make a felt pin book. You can also use them on your bulletin board as tacks.
It's a great kids project too!
